German Language School

Grades K to 6

Saturday mornings 9:15 am - 12:00 pm. Students in grades K-2 learn to speak German in an interactive manner through play, songs, rhymes, stories and art. Students in grades 3-6 continue to build their German vocabulary as they learn to read and write. They also learn and apply German grammar rules. Prior to concerts, students participate in choir.

Grades 7 & 8

Tuesday evenings 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm. Students focus on further developing their vocabulary and grammar skills. The grade seven and eight curriculum includes studies in geography and history of German speaking countries. The curriculum for grades K - 8 is used by German Schools nationwide and was developed by the Canadian Association of German Language Schools.

High School Credit Courses: German 10, 20 & 30

Tuesday evenings 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm. The Alberta Program of Studies is the curriculum followed in these classes. They are also supplemented by the nationwide German curriculum. Students prepare for the General German Language Certificate Examinations as well as the German Language Diploma I & II examinations.

Adult Classes: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced

Classes take place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings dependant on level. Prior knowledge of German is not required. Adults in the beginner level learn basic conversational skills. The intermediate and advanced classes are designed to develop a wider base of vocabulary and grammar skills. Classes are offered for ten week sessions in the fall, winter and spring.
